UPPER STORY Answers to the inescapable questions of life: knowledge of God, universals, moral knowledge, religious knowledge, meaning and purpose for life, etc. LOWER STORY Particulars, mathematics, mechanics, the physical sciences, etc. In learning, the mind gathers data and reflects upon that data. An important question to be decided by epistemology is: What are the sources of data? Everybody recognizes the validity of observation and experience as sources of data. The question
